Bats Indices are designed to accurately reflect the price performance of the market or market segment that the index represents.

In order to achieve this, the underlying constituents of the index and their treatment under specific market events, particularly corporate actions, are defined in Bats Index Rules and Methodology.

If these are unable to deal with a specific corporate or industry event that would impact the value of an index, Bats will determine how such an event will be treated and present proposals in this regard to the Bats Index Advisory Committee for discussion and then to the Bats Regulatory Decisions Committee for approval.  Such decisions are then published.
